INFOSTARS UPDATE
***************************************************************
Marilyn Bromley is our featured InfoStar this month. She is the Library Director at The Bureau of National Affairs, Inc. (BNA), and is dedicated to ensuring that the library is appreciated as a valuable part of BNA. When asked to complete a return on investment (ROI) study for BNA, she knew the perception is often that everything on the Internet is free, so librarians aren't really necessary. Marilyn says, "In completing this analysis, we ... successfully demonstrated our contribution to BNA's bottom-line, and we ... received ...[the] endorsement of our services and work."

GETTING TO KNOW YOUR QUANTUM2 COACHES
************************************************************
As part of getting to know us all a little bit better, our Quantum2 coach from around the world this month is Anthony Danko of Canada, based in Toronto.
ANTHONY DANKO holds a master's degree in library sciences from the University of Toronto.
How long have you worked for Dialog? I joined Dialog in October 1998. I was swept into the dot.com world for about ten months in 2000-01. I regained my senses and was back with Dialog by July '01.
How did you come to join Dialog? I attended a good friend's wedding one Saturday in September 1998, where I read during the ceremony and told some jokes about the groom at the reception. On Monday morning I received a phone call asking me to submit a resume. It was a terrific surprise!
What are your key responsibilities? I'm primarily responsible for new business sales. I am also the Quantum2 instructor for Canada. In the past I've been responsible for customer service, account management and regional marketing.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job? Without a doubt, it's meeting people in such a wide variety of jobs. Speaking to them, understanding what they do and knowing which information types will answer their questions gives me a constant stream of fresh challenges.
What is the most challenging aspect of your work? "Believe me, it's not on the web..."
How do you balance work and personal life? It's a delicate balance: with three children at home, I rarely break 120 at golf. When not golfing I'm usually playing with Barbies or trying to make an ice-rink in the backyard.
What did you want to be growing up? A politician.
What three words would you use to describe yourself today? Patient, Resourceful and Happy.
What are your plans for the future? To finish building the 16ft cedar-strip canoe I started in 1998. All it needs is the fiberglass hull to be applied with epoxy. But if that's all it needs it should be finished, right?
What is your favorite book and movie? My favorite book is The Screwtape Letters. For my favorite movie it's a three-way tie between The Blues Brothers, It's a Wonderful Life (yes, I admit it), and Gladiator.
What quality do you admire most in a person? Leadership.

Don't forget that your suggestions for workshop topics are always welcome. If you know a friend or colleague who would benefit from the Quantum2 program, why not encourage them to sign up today at http://quantum.dialog.com.
