QUANTUM2 FORUM
*************************
Our discussion forum is off to a good start, with more than 60 registrations in the first month. We would like to keep our forum active, and invite you to make your views on the subject threads known. Only by sharing can we learn from each other, and this forum is yours and for your benefit.
As we are all learning how best to use the forum, we would like to share with you something we recently discovered. To ensure that you are receiving an e-mail that notifies you when new messages are posted on a particular thread, you need to subscribe to each thread. You can do so by clicking on the leftmost icon at the top of the messages in each forum when in Customize mode. If you have note done so already, we invite you to join our present discussion about competitive intelligence.

A PROBLEM SHARED...
******************************
One of our regular readers from Taiwan recently wrote saying that she finds the exchange of ideas passed on through our Quantum2 program invaluable. However, she has problems of access to information in Taiwan. To her, the Quantum2 membership is a vital lifeline, and in the spirit of sharing, she has asked us to pose this question to our members:
If you could draw up on a blank piece of paper your vision of the ideal library service or the ideal information service, what would it be? What would it offer? What would be the one thing you would share with your colleagues???
Please respond to this question and be sure to put "Ideal Library" in the subject line. We will share results with you at a future date in a Hints & Tips section of the newsletter.

GETTING TO KNOW...YOUR QUANTUM2 COACHES
***************************************************************
This month, our featured Quantum2 Coach is Gabrielle Derriks from our Brussels office.
How long have you worked for Dialog?
Six years
How did you come to join Dialog?
Through one of the cards that Life deals you.?? Must be Fate.
What are your key responsibilities?
I'm currently a "Training Consultant" for Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. This is a new title in Europe, but encompasses my former role of "Customer Services," which includes not only the training aspect, but also much of the "caring for customers" aspect!
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
When customers express their joy and contentment with the service I have provided.
What is the most challenging aspect of your work?
As we're in contact with a great variety of businesses, I would say - "be prepared for all eventualities."
How do you balance work and personal life?
"Balance" is the emphasis here, especially as it brings to my mind medieval paintings of money scales.?? I think my life equates into a nice horizontal line, as although I probably spend more hours at work, this is balanced nicely by the joy my personal activities give me.????
What did you want to be, growing up?
I did not have a precise idea, but it involved something with a requirement for speaking multiple languages in order to be able to understand other civilizations, cultures and values.?? I speak four (French, English, Dutch, German), and can understand a further two (Spanish and Italian).
What three words would you use to describe yourself today?
Patient, Persevering and Determined
What are your plans for the future?
To work as long as I am physically and legally able.
As always, your suggestions for workshop topics are always welcome and encouraged. If you know a friend or colleague who would benefit from Quantum2, please encourage him or her to sign up today at http://quantum.dialog.com/.
Kind regards,
Liz Blankson-Hemans
